Cats dash in Thomasville, runners receive medals

Coach Yvette Greene’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams tuned up for this Saturday’s annual Bearcats and Lady Cats Invitational Meet at the Bainbridge High School track with strong efforts Saturday at the Thomasville High school Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs Quail Trail Invitational Meet at Quail Trail Plantation.
The Bearcats finished second in a strong 20-team field and the Lady Cats finished sixth in a strong 17-team field. There were 260 male athletes and 160 female athletes competing.
The top two Bearcat runners were Ponchrella Leonard, who was second overall with a time of 17:08, and Caleb Harris, who was tenth overall with a time of 18:31. Other top Bearcats runners included Bennett Enfinger, Brenden Greene and Perry Waddell.
Lady Cat Uriyah Davis finished fourth overall with a time of finished a strong fourth overall with a time of 22:50. Also turning in strong efforts for the Lady Cats were Camry Fillingame, Aida Diaz, Aileen Mejia and Alaiya Schuyler.
Visiting teams coming to Saturdays Bearcats and Lady Cats Invitational Meet, which gets underway at 8 a.m., include Grace Christian Academy, Albany High School Baconton Charter School, Baker County High School, Berrien County High School, Cairo High School, Early County High School, Fitzgerald High School, Lee County High School, Tallahassee Lincoln High School. Lowndes County High School, Pelham High School, Seminole County High School, Thomas County Central High School, Thomasville High School, Tift County High School, Westover High School and Worth County High School.
