GCA soccer suffers loss to Open Bible Christian in final season game

The Grace Christian Academy Cougars co-ed soccer team dropped a 7-0 decision to Valdosta’s Open Bible Christian School coed Warriors Monday at Bill Reynolds Sports Park to concluding their season with a 2-2-1 record.
Leading the way for the Open Bible Warriors Monday were midfielder Caleb O’Connor and forward Ethan Byrd with single goals, forward Colton Jenkins with two goals and center midfielder Luke Hanor with three goals.
The Cougars opened their season with three games in the East West Challenge Tournament hosted by Calvary Christian School in Fort Walton Beach Florida. On Friday, April 21, the Cougars tied 3-3 with the Knights of Trinity Christian School of Pensacola, Florida. Striker Corban Walsingham scored all three Cougars goals.
In their second game of the East West Challenge Tournament, the Cougars Colin Woodrum and Branch Austinson scored goals to seal a 2-1 victory over the East Hill Christian School Eagles from Pensacola, Florida.
In their third and final East West Challenge Tournament Game, a Corban Walsingham penalty kick gave them a 1-0 victory over their long-time rival the Saints of
Robertsdale Alabama’s Central Christian School. Coach Carnes said the win over the Saints was particularly sweet because it had bee n several years since they had beaten them.
