The Bainbridge High School Bearcats dropped a tight 63-61 decision to the Thomasville High School Bulldogs Tuesday night on the road.
Leading the way for the Bearcats were Tyree Crump with a game high 26 points. Also in double figures was Trevon Shaw with 13 and Dante Williams with 11.
Rounding out the Bearcats scoring column was Devontae Jones with 7, Myles Thomas with 3 and Meleke Lury with 1. Jordan Willis scored 16 for the Bulldogs.
The game was close throughout. The Lady Bulldogs led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, 29-26 at halftime and 38-33 after three quarters.
“We had our chances to win but just fell a little short,” Bearcats head coach
Rickey McCullough said after the game. “We have got to put the game behind us and get ready for our Region 1-AAAA schedule.”
Last night the Bearcats took on the Region 1-AAAA Crisp County High School Cougars in Cordele and tonight they will host the Cairo High School Syrupmakers. They will be the first two Region 1-AAAA games that count on Bainbridge’s region schedule.
“We played all of our Region 1-AAAA opponents earlier in the season, but only the second time we play them will count in the region standings,” McCullough said. “We had some critical turnovers against Thomasville, but we cannot afford to have them when we get into the heart of our Region 1-AAAA schedule.”
Tuesday the Bearcats will host the lone remaining non-region opponent when they take on the Seminole County High School Indians.
