Coach Erwin Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars basketball team divided two Georgia Independent Schools Association Region 3-AA games this week.
On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars defeated the Highland Christian Academy Lady Eagles 39-12 in Valdosta, and on Thursday they lost 50-39 to the Georgia Christian School Lady Generals at Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
In their win over the Lady Eagles, Perra Harrell and Kelsey Harrell combined for 23 points. Perra Harrell led the way with 12 points and Kelsey Harrell put in 11. Perra also had a team-high 9 rebounds. Addie Elkins and Mallie Andrews pulled down 5 rebounds each.
In their loss to the Lady Generals, the Lady Cougars were led by Kelsey Harrell with 11 points and 5 rebounds, Perra Harrell with 9 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists and Lindsey Duke with 4 points. Kelsey Harrell had 4 assists.
Coach Harrell said he thought his lady Cougars had a fast start against Georgia Christian but then got complacent.
“We had 27 turnovers against Georgia Christian,” he said. “We cannot win ball games if we don’t take care of the basketball. We can still accomplish our goals this season, but we have put ourselves in a tough situation. We have got to put this one behind us and get back to work at practice.”
