Bainbridge builds to 4-2 region record

Coach Rickey McCullough’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats divided a pair of Region 1-AAAA basketball games over the weekend.
On Friday the Bearcats defeated the Dougherty High School Trojans 89-51 at home, and on Saturday they lost to the Monroe High School Tornadoes 65-52 in Albany.
“We really played hard and well against a good Dougherty team Friday night,” McCullough said. “Saturday night against Monroe we played hard again but our legs were just not strong. We are playing hard and really getting after it defensively every night. The effort has really been there for us all season. Now we have got to focus on getting ready for the upcoming Region 1-AAAA Tournament.”
In their Friday home victory over Dougherty, Tyree Crump led the Bearcats with 25 points. Devonta Williams scored 14 and Devontae Jones was also in double figures with 1l. Myles Thomas and Trevon Shaw put in 8 apiece.
Emeshaun Offord of the Tornadoes scored 12 points in the first quarter. Ulysses Williams hit three 3-point shots in the second quarter to help the Tornadoes build a 33-25 halftime advantage.
The Bearcats returned to action Tuesday when they hosted the Westover High School Patriots in a Region 1-AAAA game. On Friday they will take on the Worth
County High School Rams in a Region 1-AAAA game in Sylvester. The
Region 1-AAAA Tournament will be at the gym of the girls Region 1-AAAA girls champion.
