Coach Erwin Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars defeated the Southwest Georgia Academy Lady Warriors 44-38 Tuesday in Damascus to improve their overall record to 14-3.
The Lady Cougars, who are 2-2 in Georgia Independent Schools Association Region 3AAA, were led by Perra Harrell with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Kelsey Harrell scored 9 points, and had 5 assists. Kaitlyn Holcombe scored 9 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists.
Lindsey Duke scored 6 points, Mikey Harrell scored 5 points and Addie Elkins scored 4 points.
After the game, coach Harrell said he liked his team’s performance in Damascus, which is not an easy road venue
“This was a hard fought game,” he said. “Damascus is a tough place to play. Everyone contributed tonight and we needed it. We were glad to get the win and even up our region record. Our region has to be one of, if not the toughest in the state.
“Last year in the state tournament, three of the final eight and two of the final four teams were from our region and the state champion has been from our region the last five years.”
