Buford C. White, 79, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Dean officiating. Interment was at Cool Springs Cemetery with Darrin White, Cranston White, Jr., Johnnie Miles, Wayne Roberts, Scott Nalley, and William Nalley serving as active pallbearers. Mr. White was born April 30, 1936 in Attapulgus, the son of Alton White and Bernice Faircloth White. He was a graduate of Attapulgus High School and Chipola College where he received an Associates of Criminal Justice. Mr. Buford served our country in the US Army and spent the remainder of his career with the Florida Dept. of Corrections, eventually retiring from Liberty Correctional Institution.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. If you ever met him you would know how much he enjoyed talking. He loved our country, but most of all he loved his family, whom affectionately called him “Spanky”. Mr. White was a member of the Lions Club and attended Attapulgus Church of God.

Survivors include his son, B. Cranston White, Jr. and his wife, Danell, of Sneads, Fla.; his daughter, Jennifer W. Dean and her husband, Tim, of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, LaTausha M. White, Willow E. White, Madison E. Dean, Adrianna Conrad, and Jonathan Conrad; and his siblings, Dewey White and his wife, Doris, of Climax, Larry White and his wife, Jane, of Midlothian, Va., and Laura White of Ringgold, Ga.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Christine Holland White; and brothers, Earl, Burl, Willis, and Wilbur White.
