BHS soccer teams celebrate season

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cat and Bearcat soccer teams were honored for their strong achievement Monday at the Bainbridge High School cafeteria.
Coach Chip Arial’s Lady Cats went 10-8 on the season and 7-3 in Region 1-AAAA play.
They advanced to the first round of the State Class AAAA playoffs. A 3-0 victory over the Cairo High School Syrupmaids clinched their playoff berth. They also made the playoffs in 2015. It marked the first time since 2007 and 2008 that the Lady Cats made the playoffs in consecutive seasons.
The Lady Cats’ defensive award went to Derrical Williams, their offensive award went to Haley Thompson, their midfielder award went to Summer Boyd, their newcomer medals went to Mabry Briggs, who had 3 goals and 1 assist, Cara Jones who had 1 assist and Kamerin Timmons. Mary Mercer Reynolds, who played in the field and in goal, won the Lady Cats most versatile player award.
Lady Cats’ coaches awards went to seniors Grace McIntosh, Derrical Williams, Sabryna Dean, Elesia Everson, Alysha Stubbs, Jasmine Taylor, Tianna Miller and Kamira Carlyle.
Bearcats’ coach Rick Lewis presented awards to Corey Morrison as his top defensive player, Nathaniel Lambert as his top midfielder, Jesus Contreras as his top offensive player, Lerone Broadnax as his most improved player, Bennett Enfinger as his top newcomer and Jaycee Castro for hustle. Bearcats and Lady Cats senior awards went to Bryce Williams, Quang Pham, Corey Morrison, Jesus Contreras Bennett Enfinger, Evan Oldaker, Spencer Shreves, Kamira Carlyle, Grace McIntosh, team manager Lyatrecia Harris, Alysha Stubbs, Tiarra Miller, Derrical Williams, Jasmine Taylor, Sabryna Dean and team manager Teshawn Dumas.
