A pet store, two cellphone vendors, a car wash and a fried chicken restaurant are all planned to arrive in Bainbridge in the near future.

“What ever they’re seeing, what ever they’re looking for from economic indicators, apparently they’re seeing that its looking a little more positive,” City Manager Chris Hobby said. “I hope that means we’re about to have a whole flurry of this stuff.”

The Finish Line Express car wash recently opened across the street from Sonic and ground has been broken on a Maryland Fried Chicken in the same area. There are currently 26 Maryland Fried Chicken restaurants throughout Florida, Georgia, Michigan and South Carolina. Turner Brock opened the carwash and he is also developing the Maryland Friend Chicken.

A Cricket Wireless is planned to occupy the storefront that became vacant when RadioShack closed.

In the same shopping center, a PetSense is planned, with the final details being finalized with the city next week.

“They are turning in plans Monday, building plans,” Community Development Director Roy Oliver said. “They’ve already been in touch with the building inspector with some preliminary questions, but we expect their full set of plans to be turned in Monday.”

PetSense has stores through the country including 13 in the state of Georgia. They also have stores in states including, but not limited to Louisiana, California and Mississippi.

In the Winn-Dixie shopping center there are plans for a Metro PCS Wireless store.

Hobby said that they have also been meeting with additional businesses that are interested in opening locations in Bainbridge.
