“They’re trying to teach me what they’re used to and I’m trying to teach them what I’m used to,” Walker said. “This year’s just going to be a big learning curve with them getting used to me.”

The Lady Cougars will be led by returning seniors Kaitlyn Holcombe, Sarah Castoro, McKenzie Brown and Addie Elkins. They will be joined by returning underclassmen Pooja Patel and Abigail Mills.

“So far they’re all doing great,” Walker said. “As a group watching them, I can tell they work really well together. Sarah’s a really good passer, Addie’s my setter, Kaitlyn, she’s really good on the front row.”

Walker said she also expects freshman Mikey Harrell to step up and be a starter for them this season.

The Lady Cougars open their season on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Frederica Academy.
