The Harris County Tigers took a 3-0 lead over the Lady Cats (5-4) in the top of the fourth inning, but the Lady Cats were able to battle back and push the game into extra innings.

In the bottom of the fifth, Tyra Jackson tripled to left field scoring Haley Thompson and Mabry Grace Briggs.

The Lady Cats then tied the game in the bottom of the sixth when Ty Gant tagged from third after Tori Sprenkle flew out to right field.

The game remained tied until Harris County took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the eighth inning.

“We answered and we stayed neck and neck until we got in the tie breaker right there at the end and they hit another home run,” coach Chris Bryant said.

The Lady Cats returned to the field Monday evening with a home game against SGA. The Warriors took a two-run lead in the top of third on multiple hard hits, ground balls and line drives that found holes in the outfield.

“Some of those balls are just heartbreakers, I call them,” Bryant said. “They fall in no mans’ land. There’s no one there to catch them and they took advantage of them today.”

The Warriors then added another run in the top of each the fifth and seventh innings. The Lady Cats lone run came in the bottom of the sixth when Briggs scored from third on a pop fly hit by Mckynleigh Harrell.

“Their pitch did a phenomenal job keep us away from the plate and had us all mixed up and we didn’t what we were swinging at,” Bryant said. “She brought her A-game today.”

Bainbridge received a strong performance in the pitcher’s circle on both Friday and Monday from sophomore Abigail Gardner, who pitched all 15 innings.

“She has grown a lot of the last year and I’m excited about having her two more years for sure and her being a big part of our success here,” Bryant said.

The Lady Cats travel to Veterans on Friday.
