Helen Parker Dean, 94, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Oak City Cemetery with Rev. Stanley Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.
Helen Parker Dean was born November 3, 1921 in Climax, Ga, the daughter of Melvin Parker and Fannie Mae Bell Parker. She was a member of First Christian Church. Helen was a faithful volunteer at Memorial Hospital for several years where she could be found helping patients and visitors from the gift shop to same day surgery. Helen took pride in the appearance of her yard, where she spent countless hours. Her family remembers what a great cook she was and the joy she exhibited as others indulged in her labor of love. Helen was usually busy serving others but would occasionally slip off to a favorite fishing hole.
Survivors include her son, Steve Dean and his wife, Teri of Brinson, Ga.; her daughter, Susan Dean Hand of Bainbridge; her sister, Margie Justman of Connecticut; her grandchildren, Dean Brady and his wife, Rene’, Amy Barbree, Donnie Dean and his wife, Aimee, Len Dean and his wife, Heather, Abbi Bush and her husband, Jake, and Todd Hand and his wife, Hannah; her great-grandchildren, Jami Bree, Parker, Garret, Jake, Mina, Berkley, Virginia and Ada. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Hubert Parker.
