Miss Grubbs and Mr. Bowen were wed in September
Brittany Morgan Grubbs and Dustin Roland Bowen were united in marriage Saturday, September 10, 2016, at 5 in the afternoon at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville. Family and friends gathered to witness the special occasion, which was officiated by Rev. David Grubbs.
The bride is the daughter of Roger Grubbs of Eldorendo. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Grubbs also of Eldorendo.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Bowen of Donalsonville. He is the grandson of Ouida Carr and the late Hugh Carr, J.B. Bowen and Dorothy Bowen all Of Donalsonville.
The bride, wearing a white strapless ballgown, overlayed in tulle, with lace applique and a chapel train with matching tulle veil, was escorted by her father. She carried a bouquet of white roses, purple carnations, green berries, purple calla lilies with greenery. The bride chose her aunt, Angie Grubbs, to be her matron of honor and Savannah Bowen, sister of the groom, to be her maid of honor. Other attendants were Melissa Bryant and Emma Thompson, cousins of the bride, Kaley Moates, friend of the bride and Rylie Williams and Abby Grubbs, flower girls and cousins of the bride.
Tim Bowen, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Ethan Barwick, John Barwick, Boone Kennedy, all cousins of the groom and Kenny Utecht, friend of the groom. Ushers were Michael Carr, cousin of the groom, Wink Grubbs, uncle of the bride, Will Brown, Jay Hawkins and Mike Sheffield, all friends of the groom.
Music at the afternoon ceremony was provided by vocalist Angie Carr, aunt of the groom, organist, Gene Houston, cousin of the groom, and Genta Grow. Mandy Thompson, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding.
Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests enjoyed the reception at the Donalsonville Country Club. Entertainment was provided by Doctor Doctor,a band from Tifton, Georgia, with Angie Carr as lead female singer. Blake Rykard, friend of the couple, welcomed guests with keepsake bags filled with roasted peanuts.
Other activities for the couple included a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s family at Friendship United Methodist Church Social Hall, a shower at the home of Wink and Angie Grubbs, a shower at Friendship United Methodist Church given by the ladies of the church and friends of the groom’s mother.
A gift card shower was given in honor of Brittany by the staff at Miller County Elementary School and an engagement party was given in honor of the couple by Dr. and Mrs. Mike Carr, Angie Carr, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Ross, Michael Carr, Ashley Carr, Scott Milner, and Mr. and Mrs. David Vines and Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Rykard at Lake Seminole.
After a honeymoon to Amelia Island, the couple resides in Miller County.
