Cougars earn two wins by double-digits

The Grace Christian Academy men’s basketball team won both of their games this week against Southwest Georgia Academy (SGA) on Tuesday, Jan. 10, and Emmanuel Christian Academy on Thursday, Jan. 12.
Grace jumped out to an early lead in their game on Tuesday against SGA and was able to keep a steady lead throughout the game and ended with a final score of 53-26.
The Cougars jumped out to a 17-point lead in the first quarter and held SGA to only 3 points. The second quarter was just as brutal for SGA, who saw the Cougars put up 19 points. The Cougars held SGA to only 7 points in the quarter to see a halftime lead of 39-10.
The Cougars slowed down in the second half, but the lead was too much for SGA to overcome. GCA managed only 8 points in the third quarter and only 6 points in the fourth.
Sam McRae led in scoring on Tuesday with 20 points and led the team in rebounding with 8.
Thursday’s game against Emmanuel Christian Academy was more of a match for Grace, who won 46-35.
The first quarter was close, and ended with ECA leading by 4. Grace improved in the second quarter to come back and lead at halftime 17-16.
The second half was when Grace started to pull away. Grace put up 29 points over the third and fourth quarters to ECA’s 19.
Sam McRae led the Cougars in scoring with 24 points and in rebounding with 11 to top off his impressive week.
McRae put up 44 points over two games this week and grabbed 19 rebounds and separated himself from the pack as a scorer.
The second highest scorer over the week was Nate Walton who scored 22 points 11 rebounds.
