Blessing Box makes debut at Super Clean Car Wash

It is called a Blessing Box — the wooden box on legs that is located next to Super Clean Car Wash on Dothan Road.
The inscription on the front invites you to, “Take what you need. Bring what you can, above all, be blessed.”
Inside are non-perishables and canned goods for those who are in need and hungry.
The food box is the project of Patricia Anderson of Someone Cares Sharing Center.
Originally she and her volunteers served the hungry with a soup kitchen, then a charity give-away located at the fairgrounds in a building owned by the County government.
The box has been at the car wash since Feb. 27. Markise Jones, owner of the car wash, monitors the box when he is detailing cars in the daytime. Anderson said some food has been taken and some replaced by an anonymous source.
“I want people to know that they are welcome to the food,” she explains. “It’s free and is there to be a blessing to anyone in need. If they take all the food, that is fine too.” She checks the box daily and replenishes it as needed.
Anderson said they are trying to get the word out and will possibly build more boxes to distribute throughout the community as needed.
