Bainbridge Public Safety responded to a call regarding a dog issue on Sunday, April 23, that resulted in the arrest of Aresinnio Scott for probation violation, obstructing law enforcement officers, cruelty to animals, dead animals and criminal trespass.
BPS Sargent Toby Miller was dispatched to Pecan Drive for a dispute about a neighbor’s dog living under another neighbors shed. Upon arrival, Miller and Bainbridge Animal Control Officer Kenneth Ellison walked to the backyard to find a severely malnourished dog, according to the incident report.
At that time Scott walked up and Miller recognized him from prior arrests and also knew that Scott had an active arrest warrant out, per the report.
Scott was on the phone talking to someone about the dog when Miller approached him and tried to apprehend him based on the outstanding warrant, per the report.
Scott broke free of Sgt. Miller’s grip and ran. Scott ran out of his shoes when he took off.
Miller went around the side of the house to find Scott hiding in thick underbrush. When Miller commanded he stop, Scott took off. The men went running through backyards and wooded areas. They crossed streets between Pecan Drive and Julia Circle a handful of times, per the report.
Miller observed Scott go into a home. Miller proceeded to knock the door in and flushed Scott out of the house, according to the report.
At this point, Bainbridge Public Safety, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol were all patrolling the area heavily.
Via radio traffic, Miller learned that Scott had entered his residence yet again. As Miller approached, he was met in the yard by an irate female and two irate juveniles who were acting hostile, according to the report.
BPS officers entered the house and searched for several minutes before finding Scott in a hallway closet
He was placed under arrest and taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of a foot wound he received running barefoot.
