Bainbridge baseball coach Brian McCorkle stood at the podium in the Bainbridge High School cafeteria on Tuesday night and honored the players who have spent the past season on the baseball field for him and his program.
The banquet began by honoring the impressive middle school teams. For the seventh grade, Michael Smith was awarded the Academic Award and Braxton Johnson was awarded the Player of the Year Award.
For the eighth grade, who played their way to a one-loss season, Jack Burke won the Academic Award and Michael Conder won the Player of the Year.
Coach McCorkle then honored Austin Aldridge, who won the Academic Award for ninth and tenth grade, bringing home the only award handed to a junior varsity player.
After those awards, it was on to the varsity.
Keith Lyle brought home the most awards. Lyle won the Academic Award, Bearcat Captain Award, first team all-region 1-AAAAA infielder and was named to the Georgia Dugout Club All-State Selection. Joining him in the Georgia Dugout Club All-State Selection is fellow senior Noah Bryant. Bryant also was named to the 1-AAAAA All-Region team as a catcher.
Joining those two on the All-Region first team is outfielder Carson Inlow. Will Kelley, Nick Barber and Griffin Long were named to the Second Team 1-AAAAA All-Region team.
Carson Inlow was awarded the John Hambrick Batting Title, Will Kelley was named pitcher of the year, Walt Burrell was awarded Defensive Player of the Year and Clark Wiggins won Most Improved Player.
