Funeral services for Betty Godwin Boles, 80, of Calvary, Ga., are at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Keown and Rev. Jack Vanstone will officiate. Interment will be in Piedmont Cemetery, Calvary. Mrs. Boles passed away at her home in Calvary, on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Scott, Lex Moore, Marc Moncrief, Johnny Darsey, Wayne Windham and Duke Hammond.

Mrs. Boles was born on April 17, 1937, in Greenville, Fla., to the late Joseph Benton and Maggie Bass Benton. She was a retired schoolteacher with the Grady County Board of Education. She taught at Whigham for many years. Betty was still active with the Grady County Retired Teachers Association. She was a devoted member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she had served as WMU Director, church secretary, and many other church positions.

Survivors include: daughters, Laura Sapp (David) of Starke, Fla., Christy Harper (Eric) of Statesboro, Ga.; son, Joe Godwin of Santa Fe, New Mexico; grandchildren, Kaylynn Knight of Greenwood, S.C, Kollin Knight (Bridget) of Calvary, Christian Harper of Folkston, Ga., Tyler Harper of Folkston; sister, Joann Howell of Bainbridge, Ga.; brothers, Billy Benton (Dianne) of Cairo, Ga., Ed Benton of Attapulgus, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her first husband, William Lawson Godwin; and her second husband, Buddy Boles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Boles’ memory to: Calvary Baptist Church, P. O. Box 180, Calvary, GA 39829.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
