Basscats sweep podium in junior division, send two senior division teams to state

The BassCats fishing teams swept the Junior Division last Saturday at Lake Eufala, claiming first, second and third place in freezing temperatures.
Twenty-one teams competed at the Lake Eufala tournament. The day started with a 30-degree temperature and a wind chill of 20 degrees.
According to coach Roy Matthews, lines were icing up, reels were freezing, but the young anglers battled through the conditions.
Bowynn Brown and Luke Griffin pulled in five fish weighing 10.13 pounds for first place, Brody Thomas and Miles Cundiff placed second with five fish coming in at 7.93 pounds and Ashton Aldridge and Reece Conley pulled in two fish weighing 4.72 pounds for third place.
In the senior division, Blake Daughtry and Hudson Barber placed 14th overall with four fish weight 8.70 pounds. Coming in 16th place was Jackson Conley and Stokes Moore with three fish weighing in at 8.01 pounds.
Both senior teams qualified for state.
