Decatur County 4-H hosts shotgun district qualification match

Decatur County 4-H hosted the 4-H Shotgun District Qualification Match on Saturday, April 14.

More than 90 4-H students from Seminole, Grady, Lowndes, Lee, Thomas and Decatur counties participated in the prerequisite shooting bout to determine eligibility for the 4-H State Target Challenge Weekend to be held at Rock Eagle 4-H Center May 12-13, 2018. Qualification requirements for Junior members (seventh and eighth grade) include breaking 16 out of 25 clays and Senior members (high school) hitting 20 of the 25 targets.

Junior and Senior Decatur County 4-H team members Hudson Barber, Dawson Jackson, Brenden Mitchell, Cameron Bennett, Tristan Cochran, Blake Daughtry, Brannon Fagan, Weston Powell, Haydyn Martin, Stokes Moore, Jackson Conley, Austin Aldridge, John Taylor, John Maples, Katelyn Ward, Carlton Lynn, Kaitlin Cone, Brent Miller, Ashton Aldridge, Blake Fagan Brannon Parker and Cotton Barker. Decatur County 4-H Junior member Brent Miller received 2nd place high individual honors.

Team members have been practicing diligently each week since February under the guidance of dedicated volunteer coaches. Coaches for the Decatur County 4-H Shotgun Team are Bobby Barber Jr., Tim Cochran, Aric Adridge, Todd Martin and Jule Powell.
