Former Bainbridge running back named SEC Player of the Week

Dameon Pierce, the Bainbridge running back who broke numerous records as a Bearcat, was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday.
Pierce, who enrolled early at Florida last December, rushed for 63 yards on seven carries and scored a touchdown during the Gator’s win over Tennessee on Saturday. He currently leads Florida in rushing with 228 yards on 21 attempts and two touchdowns.
In a hostile environment in Neyland Stadium, Pierce showed he was up to the challenge of sharing the ball with two other Gator running backs. His touchdown run came on a 47-yard race around the outside, where he found a wide open secondary and sprinted to the end zone to put the Gators up 47-21 late in the fourth quarter.
The run was reminiscent of what thousands of Bainbridge fans have seen Pierce do for four years as a Bearcat at Centennial field.
Pierce has played in three games so far this season. He is averaging a massive 10.7 yards per carry.
Florida will travel to Starkville, Mississippi, this weekend to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a SEC showdown.
