Funeral services for Johnny Nix, 50, of Cairo, GA., were at 11 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2018, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo. Rev. Jim Weaver officiated. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cairo. Mr. Nix passed away at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, Ga., on Thursday, October 4, 2018.
Active pallbearers were Mike Trawick, C.J. Trawick, Shawn Miller, Ward Johnson, Bubba Snipes and Tim Ezell. Honorary pallbearers were fellow employees of CSX Railroad, Tracy Ulmer and Joey Prince.
Mr. Nix was born on May 20, 1968, in Donalsonville, Ga., to the late Bobby Lee Nix and Willie Virginia Scott Nix. On September 21, 1998, he married Audrey Terlisner Nix, who survives. He was an engineer-conductor with CSX Railroad.
Survivors include: his wife of 20 years, Audrey T. Nix of Cairo; son, Case Nix of Cairo; daughter, Sierra Nix of Cairo; step-son, Kyle Spooner (Tiffany) of Bainbridge; sisters, Marilyn Gladstone of Cairo, Cindy Spears of (James) of Bainbridge; brothers, Bobby Nix (Gayla) of Brinson, Ga., Mike Nix (Lisa) of Cairo, Lee Nix (Jennifer) of Albany, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-daughter, Andrea Ward.
