Sharon Haley was born in Syracuse, NY on September 30, 1943. She grew up living at Rock Acres on the FM Road. Sharon graduated from Fayetteville – Manlius High School and later from Cazenovia College. Sherri proudly secured her first wings with Delta Airlines in 1964. She made her final departure with her newly issued eternal wings on October 24, 2018.
Over a successful career with Delta, Sharon was part of Delta’s expansion into international flights, including work with the Delta and Boeing design teams, and setting new crew records for long-range flights to major European cities.
Like her Godmother, “Aunt Boots”, Irene McCarthy Miller, she never had children, but was the special Auntie Mame to many of her family and friends. Her dad was the “foodie” and the “fisherman”. Her mom was the artist with style and manners, the “proper ways”. She took these talents and flew with them.
She persisted with spirit over a long illness against COPD, with the help of loving friends and family. She loved to fish, garden, shop, travel and share new adventures and good meals with family and friends. And now she won’t have to wait once a year to celebrate with St. Patrick.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth McCarthy Haley 1972; her father, Robert Haley, Sr.; her sister, Judith Haley Penna 1992; and her husband, Albert Hallman, 1993. She is survived by her brother, Robert Haley, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen Spaulding Haley; her five nieces & nephews, Lisa Haley Neville, Christina Penna Turner, David Haley, Paul Haley, and Gregory Penna; and her eight great-grand nieces and nephews, Ella Neville, Lucas Neville, Clara Neville, Olan Turner, Siera Haley, Angel Haley, Paul Haley III, and Nyota Haley.
