Dear Editor,
I was recently serving with the Red Cross at the Jones-Wheat Elementary School in the disaster shelter. I was very impressed with the lovely school and its principle, Dr. Clark. The community is very fortunate to have both these assets, especially Dr. Clark. While I was working at the shelter I was grateful for the knowledge, friendliness, and connections of Chief Gaines. What a gem. The community was welcoming and made those of us from across the country feel welcomed. The reception ladies at the YMCA, where we would go for a much needed shower to the staff at the pharmacies to the great food from The Meat House. I know this community will recover from this disaster because I saw a loving, sharing group of people who have resilience. Thank you and best wishes.
