Bearcat baseball jumps on Early County, handily wins 6-1

The Bainbridge baseball team started its season off with a 6-1 win Monday against Early County.
The Bearcats got things started in the first inning when Ivan Velasquez singled on a 2-1 count, scoring a run.
Bainbridge tallied three runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Quayde Hawkins and Jackson McCullough.
Nick Barber led things off on the mound for Bainbridge. He lasted six innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out 12 batters.
Luke Jester started the game for Early County. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out eight. Dawson Odom threw two and a third innings in relief.
Bainbridge tallied nine hits. Hawkins and McCullough each racked up multiple hits for Bainbridge. Hawkins went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bearcats in hits.
