The regular meeting of the Decatur County Historical &Genealogical Society will be held Monday, May 20 at the Kirbo Center.
Social hour begins at 6:30 and the dinner and program follow at 7 p.m. PLEASE NOTE this month the meeting is a week later than normal.
Speaker for the occasion will be Edwin Bridges. His topic for the evening will be “From Creek Land to Decatur County.” Ed Bridges is a naïve of Bainbridge and graduated from BHS. He retired in 2012 after serving for more than 30 years as Director of the Alabama Department of Archives & History and has since been appointed their director emeritus.
Remember the 50/50 split raffle is ongoing. Be prepared to participate. Tickets will be $2 each or 3 for $5,with the winner splitting the pot with the DCH&GS.
Come for a fun evening and to welcome Ed back home. You are welcome to invite friends, just turn in their names when you make your reservations. Cost is $15 per person. Reservations must be made by Thursday, May 16. Call Roslyn Palmer at 246-2124. All no-shows will be billed.
