Monday morning representatives from Burger King presented Sydnee Burke and Kelsey Bowen a $1,000 scholarship to use in the future college endeavors.
Burke, who will be attending Mercer University and Bowen, who will be attending LaGrange found out about the scholarship from their teacher and went through the application process. The application was based upon grades and community involvement. So far the scholarship has only awarded Bowen and Burke from this area and nine students in Tallahassee.
Burke is thankful for their generosity.
“This will help so much,” she said. “This will pay for my first and second semester of books.”
Bowen agreed, saying she intended to use the money for the same thing.
Representatives, Lucas Sexton, Terrie Banks and Dianna Pennamon all wished the girls best of luck in their endeavors and presented them with a check and gift card.
They also encouraged Bowen and Burke to tell their classmates about the scholarship and persuade them to apply in the coming years.
