Last Saturday evening, 8-year-old Elijah Glenn was hit by a car and killed after he traveled into the roadway on his scooter just after 10 p.m., said Georgia State Patrol.

Reports indicate that the vehicle was traveling southbound on State Route 1/Hwy. 27 South near mile marker one when Glenn entered the roadway on his scooter.

The driver was unable to stop and hit Glenn, according to the Georgia State Patrol report.

Following the accident, Glenn was found injured and unresponsive. Georgia State Patrol has taken over investigation of the accident.

Glenn was a resident of Attapulgus.
