The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Senator Dean Burke (R – Bainbridge) recently announced a contract award worth over $9.3 million for Decatur County.
“This project is critical for Decatur County because having a bridge over Spring Creek will maintain safe access to beautiful Lake Seminole and Spring Creek for our local community and the many tourists who come to visit the Bass Capital of Georgia,” said Sen. Burke.
“I want to commend GDOT for awarding this project to the county and for enhancing our existing infrastructure. Residents and visitors will benefit from this project and I look forward to bringing additional projects to the county.”
The contract awarded to Decatur County is worth $9,388,128 and will address the construction of a bridge and approaches on State Route 253 over Spring Creek. A half-mile long bridge will be constructed during this project which will be completed by April 30, 2021.
Information on schedules, lane closures and detours will be made available on the Georgia DOT Website in advance of construction activities.
