A community rallies together

If you read Wednesday’s edition of The Post-Searchlight, you probably noticed a new section on Page 2A we called “Cloud’s Space.”
Inside this space is a list of events and fundraisers to benefit Cloud Kirbo, a 3-year-old in Bainbridge recently diagnosed with Krabbe Disease, a rare and deadly disorder to the nervous system. Cloud is currently undergoing oral chemotherapy in preparation for a stem cell transplant. Doctors hope this will slow down the progression of the disease.
The diagnosis is heartbreaking. The stress and anxiety that this disease brings is unimaginable. But our community has stepped up to the plate, and we’re going to bat for Cloud.
All around town, you will see yellow yard signs with Pray For Cloud written on them. As evident by our long list on Page 2A, you’ll see that so many different people, clubs and businesses are working to raise money that will go toward funding treatment for Cloud. Bainbridge is taking action.
The Cloud’s Space section will appear every Wednesday in The Post-Searchlight, right at the bottom of Page 2A like it was this past Wednesday. We will update the list with any new information weekly, keeping our readers informed of any updates and new details surrounding Cloud’s treatment.
No child should face a disease like this. But in Cloud’s case, he certainly isn’t doing it alone. Many prayers to the Kirbo family. Your community is here to help.
