The Lady Cougars volleyball team took on Thomasville High School Monday night, where they won in all three sets.
The Lady Cougars were dominant in the first set, winning 25-6. The win was a combination of efforts by the team, but Emma Benedict’s final serves won the game.
“Emma had a great serving game,” Coach Mardi McRae said.
Coach Rhonda Wells, agreed saying the team can always count on Benedict to gain them points, when it comes to her serving.
“She just really stood out tonight,” Wells said.
Benedict wasn’t the only standout. Mary Glenn Warr also went on a serving “tear,” McRae said.
With her contributions, the team won the next set 25-7 and the last set 25-6.
Lainey McRae and Caroline Wells made sure once the ball was over the net, it wasn’t coming back. Lainey had six kills, while Caroline had several as well.
The team hopes this win is only one of the few to come as they head into the Golden Isle Volleyball tournament this weekend in Brunswick.
Before they head there, though, the GCA team will face off against Georgia Christian School in Valdosta on Thursday at 5 p.m.
