Decatur County 4-H forestry judging team competes

Decatur County 4-Her’s have been spending the past few months preparing for the Southwest District Forestry Field Day held at C.M. Stripling Irrigation Research Park.
The junior team (5th-8th grade students) received 3rd place honors.
Team members were Kinsey Ward, Kaleb Guyton, Owen Fleming, Riley Starling, Autumn Wiggins, and Fatima Peralta. Seniors (9th-12th grade students) competing were Stacy Vulgamore, Rachel Hayes and Journey Austinson. The Senior team also received 3rd place honors with Journey Austinson recognized as the high senior individual. 4-Her’s competed in compass and pacing, insect and disease identification, tree identification, and saw timber volume estimation.
