Envision Credit Union (Envision) recently announced the results of their year-long initiative, Swipe for Schools, with a week of giving event culminating in a total donation amount of $17,000. The funds for this effort were compiled through the credit union’s popular Swipe for Schools program, an annual initiative where five cents are donated to an education-based cause every time a member “swipes” their Envision debit card.
Four nonprofit organizations scattered throughout Envision’s service areas in North Florida and South Georgia were honored with check presentations. In Decatur County, Family Connection was the local recipient.
“Envision’s core values are built upon supporting our local education systems,” said Kelli Walter, Vice President of Community Development of Envision. “We understand that students who have three meals a day and food on the weekend can learn and thrive better. We are grateful for the work Family Connection does for students within our local community and are proud to support their efforts through Swipe for Schools.”
Envision’s Swipe for Schools partners with the Family Connection program to provide meals to children in need in Decatur County. Backpacks full of food are given to students each Friday for weekends, evening and holiday meals to cover their nutritional needs at home. This allows them to return to school the next week better prepared to learn. Family Connection is a nonprofit program and relies on donations from entities such as Envision.
In 1954, 10 teachers founded Envision Credit Union with a mission to support local educators. Envision has preserved those ideals through ongoing initiatives to support teachers, schools and students throughout their nineteen-county region. Envision’s annual commitment to Swipe for Schools further exhibits the credit union’s dedication to improving the education experience of all children.
