Bainbridge basketball goes 3-3 overall during holidays

The Bainbridge basketball teams hit the courts over the holidays, with the Bearcats (9-7) going 1-2 and the Lady Cats (7-9) going 2-1 during the Christmas break.
On Dec. 26, the Bearcats won 52-40 against Lowndes. In double figures for the Bearcats were Mark Taylor Jr. and TJ Tarver with 12 points each. Other scorers for the Bearcats were KJ Cochran with 9 points, Lathan Levens with 7 points, Deyon Bouie with 5 points, Dorian Cooper with 3 points, and Dewayne Kyles and Tyrell Bryant with 2 points each.
The Lady Cats also snagged a win that day, beating Coffee County 53-30. In double figures for the girls were India Parris with 16 points and Detavia Salter with 14 points. Other scorers for the Lady Cats were Destiny Turner with 8 points, Anndrea Porter with 7 points, and Kirston Noble, Taralyn Brown, Angel Peterson and Denise Chappell with 2 points each.
Bainbridge’s next game was a tough 67-6 overtime loss to Mitchell County on Dec. 27. Mark Taylor had a huge game, despite the loss, pouring in 24 points. Deyon Bouie and KJ Cochran also had great games with 10 points each.
The Lady Cats beat Fayette County 49-32. Double figure scorers were India Parris with 16 points and Detavia Salter with 14 points.
Both teams dropped their first game at the Colquitt County Tournament on Dec. 28. The Lady Cats took a 50-28 loss to Choctaw, Florida, and the Bearcats dropped their game against LaFayette, Alabama, 69-43.
Bainbridge hosted region opponent Veterans on Friday and will host Berrien on Saturday. Tipoff is 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys.
Bainbridge will host the Cairo Syrupmakers on Friday, Jan. 10 and Warner Robins on Saturday, Jan. 11.
