Bainbridge basketball wraps up season in second round of playoffs

Both the Bainbridge Bearcats’ and Lady Cats’ basketball seasons came to a close Wednesday after losses in the Sweet 16 round of the state playoffs.
The boys (16-14) fell 59-40 to Columbia and the girls (14-16) took a 66-40 loss to Kell.
Senior T.J. Tarver led the Bearcats in scoring with 11 points. He went 3-of-10 from the 3-point line. Other scorers were Mark Taylor with 8 points, K.J. Cochran with 8 points, Lathan Levens with 8 points, Dorrian Cooper with 2 points, Dylon Woods with 2 points and Tyrell Bryant with 1 point.
Bainbridge kept it close against Columbia in the first quarter, only trailing 12-10. Columbia kicked it up in the second quarter and gained a 29-21 lead at halftime. Bainbridge trailed 47-30 after the third quarter.
Kell moved to 30-0 on the season after beating the Lady Cats.
Bainbridge basketball will return in November to begin the 2020-21 season.
