Grace Christian Academy recently made some new hires for the 2020-21 school year, including new athletic director, Lance Godwin, who plans to build a football team, while still continuing a legacy of other athletic programs.
“We are proud to welcome Lance Godwin on as our new Athletic Director and our new Football Coach for 2020-2021,” Head of School Cile Warr said.
Godwin joined GCA’s coaching staff last year and was the head coach of the varsity girls’ basketball team. The school looks forward to him continuing to build the team, while taking on the new tradition of GCA football. Godwin has a B.S. Degree from Georgia Southern University and is married to Allie Godwin with three children.
Other staff hires include Rose Wilcox, who will teach 1st grade full time. Wilcox has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Thomas University. She is certified K-5 and is Orthan-Gillingham and Learning without Tears trained.
“Rose has a passion for primary grades and Christian centered education,” Warr said.
Lisa Barber will join the staff, helping out in Middle School Social Studies and Literature. Barber has a B.S. and a M.A. Degree from Troy University with a Gifted Endorsement.
Kim Burrell will be a newcomer at GCA and teaching Middle and High School Mathematics. She recently retired from BHS after 33 years of dedication. She has a Bachelors from UGA in Secondary Math and a Masters from NOVA Southeastern.
“She is very well known in our community and will be an asset to GCA,” Warr said.
Finally, Jeff Toole will be joining the staff, teaching Physical Science, Chemistry and Physics.
Toole has an Associate’s Degree from ABAC and a B.S. from University of Georgia, with a Science Certification from Kennesaw State.
GCA is excited to welcome these new faces and begin another exciting year, offering new opportunities to students of all ages.
