Mary Edna Lynn, born January 1, 1942 to Chief of Police Idus John and Martha Norton Lynn, in Bainbridge at the old hospital on West St., was welcomed by a choir of angels on July 30, 2020.  As the daughter of a career FBI Agent she grew up in Albany, Asheville, Norfolk, and graduated from Murphy High School. Mary Edna then attended Georgia State College in Atlanta and studied Business Administration. She worked at the Trust Company of Georgia in the creative loans department. There she was introduced to her future husband, Elmer Logan of Ariton, Alabama, while working at the bank. Elmer’s sister was a coworker at the bank and Elmer was working construction in Atlanta that summer. Elmer and Mary Edna dated while he was finishing his degree in Entomology at Auburn University. They were married in Dothan, Al. in 1966 and then later moved to Gulf Breeze, Fl. where they opened Fireman Pest Control. Mary Edna and Elmer had a son, Charles Lynn Logan, in 1974. She and her son have continued to run the family business after Elmer passed away in 1991. Mary Edna was a successful business owner and active participant in the community. She was also a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and involved in the Inter-Faith Council in Gulf Breeze.

Mary Edna shared her mother’s love of cooking her family recipes and was happiest when she had a table full of family and friends to feed. Mary Edna was passionate about wildlife conservation and the preservation of our oceans and beaches. She enjoyed attending events such as the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival in Thomasville and the Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival in Pensacola. Mary Edna was blessed with the gift of humor. Her infectious laugh warmed the hearts of those that surrounded her.
