The American celebrated three years of being open on Thursday by hosting an anniversary party complete with specialty menu items, a Champagne toast and the Caliber Band to entertain guests.

Diners could enjoy anything off of the made-from scratch menu or had the option to try the featured St. Louis style pork ribs that were slow smoked and basted with a house-made St. Louis Style Barbeque sauce, the Crawfish pie or the Fried Oysters.

In addition to those items, customers received a complimentary glass of champagne at 7:30 p.m. to toast and commemorate three years in business.

Owner, Tyler Thomas thanked everyone for coming out and held a drawing, where random guests were selected for gift cards or the featured house wine of the evening.

Thomas said he thought the event went great and has a lot of great memories from the past three years.

“It’s hard to pick out one memory that’s my favorite, as we’ve been able to be a part of so many memories with so many people,” he said. “But, I would say the Benefit for Cloud Kirbo was such a cool thing to be involved with. Seeing so many people come together for a tangible cause and to help a family that has been a huge part of this Bainbridge community for years was awesome.”

Thomas knows things have been difficult for many and he is thankful that through it all, customers continued to return and support them.

“To see our community come together after having been through Hurricane Michael, then the Coronavirus shutdown, it meant a lot to see how much people care about us and support us,” he said.

Thomas and his wife, Heather know the love and support given to them at The American will only continue as they venture into the business’s sister project at the Willis Park Hotel and Café Sinclair.

They are grateful and cannot wait to see everything come together for one passion project.
