Margaret Virginia Smith was born October 4, 1925 in Decatur County, Ga., the daughter of Alton and Lucy Grimes Smith. She was a graduate of Pine Hill School, Class of 1942 and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Margaret was a card playing, sports loving, dancing woman. She could run circles around those much younger than her and prided herself on doing so. Margaret loved traveling especially to the beach. She spent many days enjoying the surf and sand from “The Ghetto” at Beacon Hill. Maggie knew her way around…from the golf course and the horse ring. She was a dedicated poll worker for the elections in Decatur County for years and was always “in the know”.
