Jill Clark Bell
September 8, 2020
Jill Clark Bell, age 60, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. She fought long and hard and gave it her best, but God ultimately called her Home. There will be a graveside service for family and friends at Mars Hill Cemetery across from Mars Hill Church on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10 a.m.
Jill was born December 9, 1959 in Thomasville, Georgia. She worked and served her community for 22 years at the Department of Family and Children Services in Bainbridge, Georgia. Jill had a servant’s heart, and her walk with Jesus was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a protector and defender of many, constantly taking up for and cheering on the underdog. But those who knew Jill best would tell you that she was a mother to all. She took care of and loved so many, including her husband, her mother, her sister, her nephews and nieces, her cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, co-workers, all her sweet puppies over the years, and all the rest of you who called Jill your best friend.
Jill always looked as though she should be walking on a runway in Paris during Fashion Week. She was, more often than not, wearing Chanel or Calvin Klein on any given day. Even when battling cancer, Jill managed to stroll and saunter around, outshining all of us. And while Jill indeed enjoyed the finer things in life, she didn’t have a materialistic bone in her body. She knew that taking care of others and loving one another was all that really mattered, and she did just that.
At the same time, Jill was gutsy. She firmly believed in shooting straight from the hip, and she was never afraid to speak her mind or tell you the truth, whether you wanted to hear it or not. Her sincere spirit is just one of the countless reasons that she was so well respected. Lots of people called Jill to get her insight or words of wisdom on whatever struggle they may be dealing with at the moment. And if she looked down and saw you calling, she took your phone call and talked honestly and openly with you. Jill will be so missed and by so many. She was a light of hope and a beacon of peace in this world. To sum it up: everybody loved and adored Jill Bell.
She was preceded in death by her older brother Hank Clark and her beloved nephew Lyle Dollar. Her survivors include husband Luke R. Bell (and their sweet pups Sala and Locka, affectionately known as “the girls”), mother Jean Sasser Beavans, sister Robin Clark Dollar (Lowell), nephews Jeff Morris and Dylan Hunter, and a close-knit crew of family members who considered Jill their anchor and rock.
Memorials can be sent to a charity, church, or organization of your choice. Jill appreciated and treasured the unique personalities of all her friends, so please feel free to celebrate her life and honor her legacy in any way that your heart and soul desires.
