Bobby Hansel Barber was born September 2, 1944 in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Evans and Edna Braswell Barber. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1962. He farmed his entire life in the Bethany Community and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
When Paul Harvey wrote “So God Made A Farmer” he could have been talking about “Big” Bobby. He loved everything about farming the land six days a week. He would go fishing every now and then, and he loved old tractors, old cars, and drag cars. Bobby was a caretaker…of the land and people. His parents depended on him in their latter years and he graciously served the church family he loved. Bobby would say his greatest yield was the crop of children and grandchildren he loved so dearly.
Survivors include his children, Bobby H. Barber, Jr., Stephanie Barber Moore & Ricky Faircloth, and Stephen Barber, all of Bainbridge; his brother, Wayne Barber of Albany, Ga.; and his grandchildren, Maci, Hudson, Ashley Kate, Stokes, Wiley, Maddie, Tristan, and Charlotte Grace. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents.
