Bearcats stomp Trojans during region victory

The Bearcats faced off against the Trojans at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany Thursday night, securing an overwhelming 56-7 victory, with the game being called before the end of the fourth quarter. The only touchdown scored by the Trojans saw both teams at a brief stalemate right at the endzone, with the Trojans finally able to break through.

“We had great execution on all three phases, offense, defense and special teams,” Coach Jeff Littleton said.

In the first quarter, Running Back Rashad Broadnax, scored a 23 yard pass from Quarterback Quayde Hawkins with 9:10 left in the first. Wide Receiver Monteric Robertson then blocked a punt recovery in the end zone with 6:57 left. Finally, Broadnax scored one last 8 yard run with 3:01 left in the first, giving the Bearcats a 21-0 lead.

In the second quarter: Running Back, Zion Bouie scored a 17 yard pass from Hawkins with 11:04 left in the second.

Trojans finally found the end zone at 6:29 when Dougherty’s Kameron Davis had a one-yard run, with Miguel Vargas making the kick.

Broadnax followed up Bouie with a 30 yard run with 5:09 left on the clock.

Sophomore wide receiver Amari Borden then made some noise, scoring a 4 yard pass from Hawkins at the end of the second quarter.

Going into halftime, the Bearcats led 42-7.

In the third quarter, Running Back, Trey Bouie scored a one- yard run with 5:25 left.
The fourth quarter saw one final touchdown by freshman Running Back Javon Cox, who scored a 56 yard run with 3:24 left.

Nicholas Tyre, kicked each extra point, except for the last one, kicked by Luke Emmons.

“Practicing fundamentals and techniques is how big plays happen,” Littleton said.

The next game will be a home game against Dade Christian, with kick-off at 7:30.
