Services for Bobby Gene Palmer, 84, of Bainbridge, Ga., are at 11A.M., Friday, November 6, 2020, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Whigham, Ga., with Rev. Gerry Bishop and Rev. Brian Hatchett officiating. In accordance with the State of Georgia guidelines concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing and to wear protective masks. Friends are welcome to come speak to the family at the Palmer home.
Mr. Palmer was born on January 30, 1936, in Cairo, Ga., to Winona Roland and Cecil Palmer, both deceased. He passed away at his home in Bainbridge on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
Bobby was a graduate of Cairo High School in 1954. On September 27, 1953, in Bainbridge, he married Carolyn Newberry Palmer, who survives. After serving in the United States Air Force, he returned to Bainbridge with his family. He was an insurance salesman for Liberty National Insurance for 30+ years & was known as “The Bubble Gum Man” to his client’s children.
He loved people and would always greet you with a smile. He spent most mornings having coffee at his “Office” (Hardees/McDonalds/The Bainbridge Donut Shop). He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family & friends. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church
Bobby is preceded in death by his son, Bobby Earl Palmer (“Robby”); daughter, Sheila Ann Palmer Bond; and sister, Connie Roland Harvey.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Newberry Palmer; daughter-in-law Brenda McMillan Palmer; son-in-law Paul Bond; grandchildren, Bobby Shane Palmer, Anthony Harrell, Israel Bond, and Anna Marie Diehl, along with numerous nieces & nephews.
