Dollie Estelle Phillips was born November 3, 1930 in Colquitt, Ga., the daughter of Maston O’Neal Phillips and Ruth Donalson Phillips. Dollie was married to Glen Henry Childree and they made their home in Southwest Georgia. She worked as a seamstress and was a member of Open Arms Ministries.
Dollie had all sorts of craft skills. She made jewelry, crocheted, and knitted when she wasn’t sewing for others. She loved the outdoors and could make anything grow. Every once in a while, she would take a break and do a little fishing. Roller skating, which she did for most of her life, was something that always amazed newcomers to the rink. Dollie was all about family and made sure each one felt special in their own right.
Survivors include her children, Andy & Jeannie Adkins and Rita Adkins Logue, all of Brinson, Ga.; her siblings, Maston (Pat) Phillips of Colquitt, Ga. and Lois Wilbourn of Coolidge, Ga.; her grandchildren, William Jared & Stefi, Mitchell Derrick & Cammy, Peightyn, Marty & Sharon, Dey & John, Shae & Craig, Andrea, and Brandy; and her twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Childree; her daughter, Tammie Adkins Mitchell; her grandson, Jeremy Huggins; her siblings, Wilson Phillips, Harry Phillips, Billy Phillips, Bobby Phillips, Katie Dasher, Yvonne Gaston, and Myra Strang; and the father of her children, Marty Adkins.
