Willie Jackson Barrentine was born June 26, 1934 in Donalsonville, Ga., the son of William Henry Barrentine and Delois Dawson Barrentine. He was a graduate of Seminole County High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. He married Gloria Jean Cohick and they made their home in Decatur County. Willie retired from Englehard and was a member of Attapulgus Church of God.

Willie never met a stranger. He was quite social and rarely missed an opportunity to visit. He loved talking and telling jokes almost as much as he loved Diet Coke and peanuts. Willie always had a project of some sort going on. He worked on lawnmowers and mowed grass in his spare time. Every week he made sure the church yard was freshly mowed and looking good for Sunday services. He was gentle in spirit and kind in his ways. Those that had the privilege of knowing Willie got a glimpse of a true servant’s heart.

Survivors include his children, Darla Bergbower and her husband, Jack, of Bainbridge, Ga. and Dennis Barrentine and his wife, Lisa, of Williamsport, Pa.; his brother, Bill Barrentine and his wife, MaryAnn, of Lake City, Fla.; his grandchildren, Barry, Lesley, Danielle, Brittany, Phillip and Wynielle; and his great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Nadiyah, Tera, Phillip and Daniel. In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by the love of his life, Gloria Jean Barrentine; and his siblings, Betty Moulton and James Earl Barrentine.
