If you’re a young, beginning, or small-scale farmer, you can take advantage of a series of three webinars designed to help you develop a business plan and mitigate risk in your operation.
The free webinars are hosted by Gary Matteson of the Farm Credit Council, who has more than three decades of experience working with farmers who are just getting their operations off the ground, or who want to grow their business. Matteson focuses the webinars on the nuts and bolts of a business plan, as well as how to identify and mitigate risk. Matteson also touches on the importance of understanding your operation’s financials, so that you can communicate accurately with your lender.
“Understanding what it costs to get your crop in the ground, your labor costs, harvesting, all of the numbers paint a picture of your farm business,” said Tarrell Bennett, Chief Lending Officer at Southwest Georgia Farm Credit. “These webinars will help you understand your business better, so you can make the appropriate decisions about what comes next.”
The webinars are free. Email the Association at Info@SWGAFarmCredit.com and you’ll receive a reply with links to each session. You can watch at your own convenience.
