The City of Bainbridge has fun-filled plans for next weekend at the Hook and Ladder.
Friday night, the City will be hosting the annual Downtown Block Party, featuring the Tobacco Road Band of Tallahassee, Florida with food and alcohol vendors on site.
Sio’s, Southern Philosophy Brewing, the Dam Bar and Diablo’s will all be catering to the party-goers and accepting cash and card for food and beverages.
“We are expecting it to bring a pretty good crowd,” Downtown Events Coordinator Randee Eubanks said. “I think it will be bigger than our block parties in the past.”
The event will be family friendly, as the City is closing Market Street, so kids can play on the playground across the street from the Hook and Ladder.
The event is free to the public and will be held from 7-10 p.m.
The following morning, the City will host another free event, known as Touch a Truck, at the Hook and Ladder.
The event will allow kids to touch, climb and explore community helpers’ vehicles that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to.
“We will have vehicles lined down Market and Clark Street, along with face painting, bouncy houses and snow cones,” Eubanks said.
Some of the trucks children can expect to climb on include the City of Bainbridge Public Works garbage trucks, Bainbridge Public Safety police cars and firetrucks, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office patrol cars, Decatur County EMS ambulances and Decatur County Fire and Rescue firetrucks.
“Touch a Truck is always a success,” Eubanks said. “Families and kids love to come out and interact.”
The event will last from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. and Eubanks said the City will be taking COVID-19 precautions, having hand-washing stations available for kids who touch multiple vehicles.
Eubanks invites everyone to join in on these fun activities next weekend and kick-off the first weekend of the school year on a high note.
