Bainbridge Little Theatre and Todd Martin State Farm Insurance present an evening of comedy at the Bainbridge Little Theatre on Saturday, August 14 at 7 p.m.

BLT actors will perform an original comedy play, The Hippie by Henry Intili. This comedy is a play in rehearsal form that centers around the long lost brother of a young New York couple, who comes to stay with them in their very small apartment.

The brother claims to be deep into hagatha yoga, having studied for five years with a noted swami in Tibet. The apartment is so small that the brother ends up using the closet as his meditation room. Things go sour quickly when hippie girlfriend from Tibbit, California (not the country of Tibet) shows up and demands answers.

Initili said the simple plot becomes complicated in this rehearsal-play because the set isn’t ready, the theatre needs vacuuming, the script contains errors, cast members are missing, several of the cast members can’t stand each other and the lighting person doesn’t know how to run the lights, ensuing mayhem and laughter.

The play was originally scheduled for production in 2020 and had to be postponed due to COVID-19.

In addition to The Hippie, the actors will read a brand new holiday comedy play and ask the audience for feedback.

The cost for the evening of laughs is $10 per person with cash or check only accepted at the door.

All profits for the evening will go the to the Thad Nifong Scholarship Fund, which is given to one high school student each year planning to study some aspect of theatre.
