William E. Sweat, Jr. (Bill), age 75 of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2021, in Tallahassee, Fla. A celebration of life was held in Live Oak, Fla.
Bill is survived by son and daughter-in-law, William Kyle and Gidget Sweat; daughter, Susan Renee Austin; grandchildren, Megan and Waylon Morrison, Hannah Patterson, and Alyson Austin, currently serving in the U.S. Air Force; great-grandchildren, Mila and Easton; sister and brother-in-law, Cordelia S. and Philip Rowell; brother and sister-in-law, Gregory Earle and Sandra Sweat; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Michael Colman and Jenni and Jeffrey Sweat; and devoted dog, Tucker.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Grace Earle Sweat.
Bill served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier. Upon completion of his service, Bill and his wife, Jackie, moved to Valdosta, Ga., where they raised their two children. Having received a master’s degree from Valdosta State College, Bill worked as a Certified Public Accountant and opened a successful practice. He went on to write computer programs for many companies. Bill enjoyed traveling, fishing, cheering on the Auburn Tigers, playing cards, and cooking. By far, his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family, friends, and dog Tucker. Bill will be missed by everyone who knew him.
