Margaret Gale Hart was born November 6, 1951, in Newark, N.Y., the daughter of Robert & Clara Redfield Hart. Peggie married Ed Metallo in 1989 and they made their home in Stuart, Fla. She worked as a bookkeeper and athletic secretary for Southfork High School until her retirement. Peggie and Ed relocated to Havana in 2015.
Peggie was an active member of Twin Rivers Saddle Club. Her passion for horses, and other animals, was evident when you entered her ranchette in Palm City. Peggie enjoyed riding but was also a breeder. As a seasoned equestrian, Peggie shared things she’d learned over the years leaving no doubt she enjoyed every minute. When she was not on the saddle, Peggie was shopping. Every day packages arrive with “surprises” of her latest find.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Ed Metallo; her children, Garrett & Stacey Smith of Bainbridge, Ga., and Jennifer & Gerry Shute of Stuart, Fla.; and her grandchildren, Addison, Cody, and Rylee. Peggie was preceded in death by her parents.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
